Privacy policy

What we collect

• When you send a message: your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. It is emailed to the foundation so we can reply.
• When you give: your name (unless you give anonymously), your email address for the receipt, the amount, how often, where the gift goes and any dedication you write. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
• When you sign up for news: your email address, your language, where you signed up, when you confirmed, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address as a record of consent. We do not keep the address itself.
• When you browse: our host keeps standard server logs (such as internet address, browser and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.

How we use it

We use this information only to answer your messages, process and record your gifts, send receipts, send the news you asked for, keep accurate accounts as a nonprofit, and protect the site from abuse. We share it only with the services that run the site for us (listed below) or when the law requires it.

Cookies

We set one cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, to remember the language you chose. It lasts a year and holds nothing else. To tell people from automated spam, our host runs a bot check on form submissions. The map on the contact page is provided by Google Maps, and Google may set its own cookies when it loads; see Google’s privacy policy.

Services we use

• Vercel hosts the website and provides bot protection.
• Supabase stores our project records, gifts and newsletter list.
• Google (Gmail) delivers our email, and Google Maps shows the masjid’s location.
• Stripe processes card payments once online giving opens.

Our newsletter

We only add you after you confirm by email. Every newsletter includes a link to unsubscribe, which takes effect straight away. If you unsubscribe, we keep your address on a do-not-email list so we never add it again by mistake.

How long we keep it

We keep gift records for as long as the law requires for nonprofit and tax purposes. Messages are kept while we deal with them. Newsletter sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after about 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop hearing from us, using our contact form. Some gift records must be kept by law, but we will tell you if that applies. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Children

This site is not meant for children to use on their own, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
